Zinc Phosphate Bath Fluid

When metal parts need to be corrosion resistant, a zinc phosphate conversion coating is often applied. The zinc combines with phosphoric acid and the surface metal of the part to form a layer of insoluble crystalline phosphates, which protects the part from corrosion. The zinc phosphate solution is either sprayed on the part, or more commonly, the part is immersed in a zinc phosphate bath. This approach is widely used in the automotive industry and in certain sectors of the appliance and electronics industries. Zinc phosphate baths are also common for electroplated, electrocoated and powder coated parts.
